A Message from Interim CEO/ Superintendent Beto Gonzalez,
On behalf of the faculty, staff, and administrators of IRRA, it is truly my pleasure to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to you. It is the time of year to reconnect with old friends and welcome new ones. To those students and parents who are new to IRRA, we extend an especially warm welcome and best wishes for an exciting and productive year in your new school. We hope that you will quickly feel at home.
A native of Bakersfield California, I was born into a migrant family of farm workers, my early life was spent migrating each year from California to Nebraska, following the seasonal crops. During these years, caring principals, teachers, and coaches played a vital role in my academic development and eventually leading to my completion of several degrees and credentials in education.
I have had the privillege of serving on both PK-12 and Post-Secondary platforms. My experience in education began as a teacher in Wasco and Bakersfield California followed by an assistant principal role in Delano California. Eventually my career led me to Deputy Superintendent and Superintendent roles in South Texas.
My Post-Secondary experience began at Bakersfield College I served as Dean of Students for Student Services, while at the Graduate School of Education at Fresno Pacific University I enjoyed my role as a lecturer. Most recently it was an honor to serve as the Dean/Head of the School Of Education at Texas A&M- San Antonio. Additionally, I was honored to be appointed as Special Assistant and later as Assistant Secretary in the George W. Bush administration with the Departments of Labor and Education respectively.
As I begin my role of CEO/Superintendent of IRRA, I will work diligently with parents and faculty to foster an atmosphere that promotes a learning community characterized by student centered instruction, academic excellence, trust, respect, community involvement, and recognition of both student and staff achievement.
It is important for students to enjoy coming to school, for teachers and staff to be passionate about our students, and for parents to feel welcome! I am committed to working in collaboration with you to continue to develop and implement this shared vision. Working together as a team, we will move forward in our mission to create a nurturing, disciplined, and challenging environment in which all students can learn at optimum levels and become responsible members of society.
I am looking forward to working with each of you as we strive to meet all our goals this year. God bless you!
Sincerely,
Beto Gonzalez
Interim CEO/ Superintendent
